Premiere: Deadhead Daisies reveal new visuals to ‘Pigs’

Out today is the new single from Deadhead Daisies, aka Toronto born singer songwriter and producer Jordan Kahn. Called ‘Pigs’, it’s a reflection on the outcry and actions leading up to the George Floyd protests that marked out 2020, and we’re delighted to be able to premiere the new video for it right here on Backseat Mafia today.

Of the track, Kahn says “When we started recording this album we didn’t set out to write anything controversial, but it was unavoidable and that should be the point. It’s a sad song but also from a place of anger. It’s really about a feeling of helplessness that unfortunately seems to sum up the year so far.”

There’s a simmering animosity about the lyrics in ‘Pigs’, but there are sweet moments as well, as it bubbles and simmers musically with, save for a few sparks and shard of electronic noise, keeps a lid on things. What it does do though is sparkle, with its melodies taught and memorable and the feel of it transport the meaning home in a very real way.

The brilliantly shot and symbolic video captures not only the song but also the times at large. Check it out, here
