If you need reminding, we’ve got quite a bit of time for Matan KG around here. The Los Angeles-based artist released his second album as Paper Idol late last year; it’s barely been six months since All Roads Lead to Pretty, but he’s got a new project on the go. Born out of a near-accident on a freeway overpass, his new alias Deep Thrills is already queueing up a debut EP.
‘Climax’ is a sub-3-minute heater that relies on a slow and steady build to an energetic payoff. Per Matan: “I built the track around this simple synth arpeggio, I wanted to see how much I could keep it building and building until it was just chaos.” (Side note: his remix of ‘Von Dutch’ by Charli XCX pairs up well with the new stuff.)
