Premiere: Velvet Sunset release the beautiful, vibrant shoegaze of Drive Me

We immediately fell for Blue, the last single from French Shoegaze duo Velvet Sunset, which we premiered back in the middle of Martin – Go have a read, here. So when the opportunity arose, we jumped at the chance to premiere the follow up, Drive Me, today here on Backseat Mafia ahead of it’s release tomorrow (April 14th)

Taking the lead from the likes of My Bloody Valentine, vocalist Eléonore doing her very best Bilinda Butcher with these ethereal, sometimes half spoken (alwatys beautiful though) vocals, while Max unleashes his Kevin Sheilds with these towering walls of guitar sounds and muscular lines, Drive Me is this near perfect slice of Shoegaze. The pair aren’t a one trick pony though or just imitations – they’ve a voice distinctly their own, and it’s a deeply melodic and emotive one at that.
