Tristram Hallis, the Melbourne born, London based producer who works under the alias of DJ Boring, is gearing up to release his first EP in two years – Like Water, through the Technicolour imprint, From it he’s released a new video for the title track. He’s been playing all of the tracks on the EP as part of his acclaimed show, and he comments “Having seen people’s reactions to the show I’m really excited to release these tracks out into the world for real”
Mixing up his Detroit and Chicago house with a taste of techno here and a garnish of funk there, he pulls in the beats, throws in some warm chords and allows little snatches of acid and shards of electronica to lie, strewn all over it.
Check it out, along with a brightly animated video, courtesy of New York based artist Amir Jahanbin. “I wanted to find an artist that would integrate colour and fun into my set. I found Amir and instantly resonated with the colours and figures that he had created” Hallis commented, “His bright pixelated animations worked perfectly with my music”.
