See: Gary Numan goes up to bat for dark electronica, with amazing results; see video for Saints and Liars, here

The first thing you hear on the track ‘Saints and Liars’ is a thumping 808 bass, setting the scene for this dark intrusive track, exploring themes such as tyranny, and human hypocrisy, the contrast is seen in the beautiful gleaming synths and the deep cutting industrial style bass and synths. The lyrical content speaks of overcoming hypocrisy and the dangers of human recklessness, deep cutting lyrics such as ‘can you break your crumbling idols? Push the pieces into the sea’ and ‘can you hear your broken promises? I am what you’ve been waiting for’. Cynicism is nothing new to Numan, however this album has a darker more nihilistic take on the subject. “Saints And Liars is the earth drawing attention to our blind faith in religion, in a fictitious God, who in reality does nothing for us, while at the same time abusing and destroying the planet, which does everything for us” says Numan, These themes are also explored in the other singles ‘I am screaming’ and ‘intruder’. While there is no music video to accompany this single, we can just imagine the visual spectacle that would go along with this. A bleak mechanical world with little light, this is further illustrated in the other singles from the upcoming album ‘imposter’ releasing on the 21st of may.
