See: Japandroids release live version of ‘Heart Sweats’ video

Vancouver’ Japandroids have announced that their first ever live album, Massey Fucking Hall – named after the Toronto venue it was recorded in, is out digitally on June 19th via ANTI- Records, with a vinyl version following on October 2nd. From it, the band have shared Heart Sweats, originally appearing on 2009’s Post-Nothing.

Of the track, David Prowse says We’ve always loved playing that one live, it’s just got a great sense of momentum and never fails to get me hyped. During that tour we were playing it second or third in the set. It consistently feels like the moment in the set where I just get that sense of ‘oh yeah we’re cooking now,’ and everything just locks in and we’re ripping through the rest of the set. All the nerves are gone and it’s the moment where we’re just locked in and totally in the zone.”

Dark and full of angst, it’s an incredible adrenalin rush of a version, the biting guitars of the original even more vociferous in the flesh, as they deconstruct and roar through it, allowing the quality of the song to breathe and live. It’s quite something, and the black and white of the video makes it all the better
