It’s been five years since we had a Nightmares on Wax album to get our teeth into, but that wait is about to come to an end with the release of Shape the Future, which drops on January 26th via Warp Records. It’s features NOW mainstay George Evelyn on vocals, something of a rarity in his 25 years of recording, and is an ode to humankind and the power of positive thought in shaping your destiny. The track bubbles away, string heavy and with just a little wisp of those 90 house anthems, it never quite gets to the centr of the dancefloor, being much too laid back and jazz tinged for that, complete with gospel and Evelyns positive mantra giving you a warm feeling inside.

The accompanying video is directed by RUFFMERCY, who has previously worked on visuals for Run The Jewels plus label mates Flying Lotus and Danny Brown. The stylized video features the directors signature animated sketches, following the protagonist as he attempts to escape a recurring cycle. Of the video, RUFFMERCY says “An artist like George has managed to stay relevant throughout his career making uplifting music with positive vibes and I think that’s key to his longevity. He’s sincere and passionate about his music and that shines through and definitely an overriding reason why I chose to take on the project. The highlight of which has been working on the video for ‘Shape the Future’ it’s a killer track with a positive message running through it”
