Track: Atlas Genius unveil an elegant serving of indie pop with the shimmering single ‘Elegant Stranger’

The smooth and indelible melodies that feature in Adelaide’s Atlas Genius‘ single ‘Elegant Stranger’ has a shimmering eighties feel: an anthemic chorus and a bubbling undertow serving the layered harmonies. It is purest of pop with intelligence and a sonic vibrancy.

‘Elegant Stranger is a collaboration between the band’s singer Keith Jeffrey, acclaimed producer Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Washed Out, Bombay Bicycle Club) and The Bravery’s singer/songwriter Sam Endicott (The Bravery, Shakira). There is certainly a muscular sheen to the track: an insistent synth bass throb and sparkling guitars underneath the smooth and evocative vocals that soar through the chorus.

The accompanying visualiser is simple, lush and quite mesmerising despite it being a single one shot scene:

Out now through Better Noise Music, you can download/stream ‘Elegant Strangers’ here.

The group has just been announced as part of the line-ups for both 2021’s Firefly and Bottlerock Festivals. For more information on tickets, see here.

Atlas Genius are three brothers: singer-guitarist Keith Jeffery, drummer Michael Jeffery, synth/keys player Steven Jeffery; and longtime friend guitarist Dave Green.
