Out right now is Joyride, the new single form Cambridgeshire Indie / Electronic / Alt-Pop band Deep City. Written in their home studio and self-produced by the bands Alex – they say of it “We wanted to go for a clean, choppy sound that was Prince-esqe.. Joyride is a more guitar driven track, and astep into a cleaner and stylised direction after experimenting with different electronic styles.”
The warm echoey guitars at the beginning of the track sit somewhere close to Real Estate, and indeed that carries on as the track unfurls, albeit with a little more of the funk about it. It has this bubbling beauty about it, as it ebbs and flows, seductive in its tunes and arrangements. Put yourself on notice. Deep City have arrived.
