Track: Kite – Teenage Bliss

With an insistent, driving beat and a cinematic wall of synths, ‘Teenage Bliss’ is a blistering release from Swedish duo Kite.

Reminiscent of bands like New Order and Pet Shop Boys, Kite have created a delicious slice of synth pop that is exuberant and pulse-quickening with its sequenced sounds and catapulting chorus. Touching on the theme of the innocence of youth in the face of the harsh reality of growing up – life is not like your first kiss – there is a haunting melancholia that contrasts with the upbeat music:

Thrilling stuff indeed. Kite are singer Nicklas Stenemo and keyboard player Christian Berg and the single was produced by Scottish producer Blanck Masse (Benjamin John Power). The single is out now through Astronaut Recordings and is available to stream here.
