Track: New Zealand’s MACEY unveils the smooth and bucolic sounds of ‘Summer Grunge’ and announces EP ‘Lovers: Side A’.

‘Summer Grunge’ from Auckland-based artist MACEY is a smooth and shimmering track which has an easy sibilant and aquatic flow evoking images of balmy sun-soaked afternoons in a green and pleasant land. The instrumentation provides a string-laden billowing dream pop pillow supporting the velvet soft vocals that hypnotise. MACEY is the nom de plume for Harry Parsons and the track comes off MACEY’s newly announced EP, entitles ‘Lovers: Side A’ due out on 2 September 2022.

In the meantime, enjoy the shimmering, evocative sounds of MACEY with an accompanying video directed by Connor Lambert that portrays a bucolic road trip with friends, imbued with a rosy nostalgia. Parsons says of the video:

I remember riding shotgun with four of my friends and thinking how much we’d all changed, how different the trajectories of our lives would be, but that no matter how long it had been or would be in the future, we would still be mates. We have so much time to make mistakes and go on tangents, still life does move fast, but in that moment I forgot about that pressure and was truly happy.

The visions perfectly reflect the laid back and dreamy soundtrack:
