Sheffield trio Polyhymns – Andrew Bolam, Gavin Harris and Sam Smith have just released a new single, Down With The Kids, which has already been garnering plenty of interest, and was chosen out of 200 tracks to be a favourite on the BBC Introducing Fresh on the Net website, as well as getting a slot on the BBC Introducing Mixtape.
Listening to the track it’s easy to see why. Warm, dreamy and immediate, they band create this timeless feeling, with analogue synth sounds mixing it up with acoustic strums and brushes of electric guitar. There’s something so familiar and (frankly) lovely about the melodies, and just enough Sheffield twang in the voices (You know we were formed right here in the steel city, right?) that is feels comforting and homely.
