Australia’s favourite under-the-radar power-pop revivalists are ready for their close-up. The Belair Lip Bombs — Maisie Everett, Mike Bradvica, Jimmy Droughton and Daniel “Dev” Devlin — have unveiled “Back of My Hand”, the third single from their forthcoming album Again, out October 31 via Third Man Records. It’s a sparkling rush of sincerity, full of fuzzy guitars, heart-on-sleeve melodies and a chorus that lands somewhere between Blue Album-era Weezer and a lovesick mixtape.

Maisie’s vocals soar over the band’s warm “yearn-core” groove, capturing that hazy, late-night mix of hope and hesitation. “Writing the lyrics was an up-and-down process,” she admits. “I wrote the second verse first, the night I got home from rehearsal. I got a bit stoned and laid in bed with a notepad and pen, and the lyrics and melody kinda just poured out of me — which pretty much never happens, so I guess it was a fluke.”
Following their acclaimed single “Don’t Let Them Tell You (It’s Fair)” – “Back of My Hand” continues the band’s knack for blending earnest emotion with playful, off-kilter riffs. Again marks a new chapter for the quartet, refining their DIY indie-rock roots with help from producers Nao Anzai (The Teskey Brothers) and Joe White (Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever). The result is a 10-track run of no-skips, brimming with self-assured hooks and genuine heart.
The Belair Lip Bombs aren’t just aiming local anymore. After wrapping their first North American tour with Spacey Jane, they’ve announced a co-headline US spring run with dust, taking their jangly Australian spirit to New York, LA, and Chicago.
