Track: The Golden Gaytimes indulge in a little lascivious ‘Cherries and Cheese’ ahead of new album and tour dates.

The Golden Gaytimes are back to spread a little glam and bacchanalian excess in their anthemic new single ‘Cherries and Cheese’. It’s a track soaked in excess and opulence, dramatic and theatrical, posed and arch. The band hilariously describing their mission as thus:

The artistic ethos of the band has always been to eliminate as much conscious thought as possible from the creative process

In reality this track is delivered with utter panache and style, a bright red lipstick pout and kohl-lined eyes that glitter with a little cheeky light under the arched eyebrow. Part Rocky Horror, part eighties The Cars era and part seventies uncensored slasher horror, but a whole load of excessive fun. The accompanying video made by Trevor Flinn, Georgina and Matthew Walker encompasses the faded weary glamour and serial killer tropes, a hint of camp horror and visceral fear:

‘Cherries and Cheese’ – a delicious combination of indulgence and tartness – is out today and available to download and stream through all the usual sites and through the link below.

The track comes off the band’s forthcoming album ‘Bung It On’ due out in September, of which the band says:

The original title for Bung It On was ‘Selected Musings on the Logical and Ideological Inconsistencies in the Immediate Tense’ which to be fair is a more accurate if less precise summation of the album’s thematic preoccupations.

Named after a particularly enticing ice confectionary that has a nostalgic Australian summertime feel to it, The Golden Gaytimes come from Maitland and are about to embark on a tour – details below.
