Track: The Nagging Doubts prove with surety that they are one of the best bands around with new single ‘Shaving My Head’.

The Nagging Doubts are one of the most exciting prospects around in Australia, displaying an inordinate amount of swagger and style in their output with their icy post punk vibe (see my review of 2021’s EP here). Their new single ‘Shaving My Head’ removes all doubt about their musical prowess: a howling, prowling slice of urban angst with a bass run that eviscerates your spine before defenestrating you.

The vocals sneer and whisper, scream and caress over the thundering percussion. There is a darkness at the heart and barbed wire running through the veins. The band says of the track:

The song speaks to the challenge of letting old friends go and the emotional journey it takes you through – from sadness to guilt, to anger and acceptance. It belongs to a collection of songs recorded recently with producer Izaac Wilson.

The result is something that is pulse-quickening and exciting, seeing the band confirm their position as one of the most exciting prospects around, and in the fine company of young bands like Radio Free Alice and Office Dog.

‘Shaving My Head’ is out now through Scenic Drive Records and available to download and stream here.
