Vinted Vineer have released blockspitter, the latest single from their forthcoming record LAMENT, due April 30. It arrives as the final preview of the album and offers a clearer sense of the direction the band have been moving toward across recent releases.
Written during a more inward-looking period, blockspitter centres on self-address rather than narrative. The lyrics read as a form of grounding, circling ideas of certainty and control without tying them to a single moment. That approach carries into the structure of the track. Guitar parts are built in fragments and assembled gradually, giving the song a layered feel that leans into tension while keeping its footing.
Sonically, the track features a heavier, more textured sound, though the band maintain the restraint that has defined their work to date. The single was recorded with Ruben McIntyre across a mix of home setups and studio spaces, continuing a collaborative process that has developed over several years. Writing and recording often overlapped, allowing early ideas to carry through into the final version while avoiding unnecessary layering.
The accompanying video, directed by Sebastian Ritchie, follows a performance-led format shaped by the pace of the track. Shot in a warehouse location under tight time constraints, it emphasises movement and immediacy, with a custom-built glass stage used to capture low-angle perspectives that reinforce the song’s tone.
Since their 2023 debut EP, Vinted Vineer have built a steady presence within Brisbane’s live circuit, supported by consistent releases and airplay. blockspitter positions them more clearly ahead of LAMENT, suggesting a record that favours control and clarity over excess.
