“‘Esseff’ is like James Bond spy music updated for the modern world”, say LA-via-Australian based duo Vowws. “We wanted to create a sound that felt like you were being chased by something scary, but enticing”. The single is from their forthcoming album Under the World, out on February 3rd on Anti-Language Records.
It lives up to it’s description – dark, cinematic, descriptive. It bubbles away with this sense of mystery, or menace even behind it. Jumping to unexpected chords and progressions, its slightly unsettling – but full of melody and intrigue. Mine will be a vodka martini. Shaken, not stirred.
