We’ve followed the trajectory of Kat Eaton for quite a while now, the Sheffield singer songwriter seemingly able to mix up pop and soul to make something that is not only good, but showcases the amazing instrument that is her voice. Certainly, the release of her forthcoming single Giving it Up – out on June 22nd, is worthy of some serious radio airplay – something not lost on Terry Wogan, who has already spun the track on Radio Two.
Ahead of a batch of dates to support the single release, we managed to persuade her into Yellow Arch Studios in her hometown (she’s now residing in London) and do a couple of acoustic session tracks for us, filmed brilliantly (as ever) by our friends at Make Noise Studios. Along with a version of the single, Kat has recorded a wonderful soulful reading of John Lennon’s Jealous Guy (renaming it Jealous Girl).
