Track: jade imagine – Big Old House

Signed to Courtney Barnett’s label, Milk! Records in Australia and more recently adding to London’s Marathon Artists, three piece jade imagine have just released their new single ‘Big Old House’.

It’s louche, laid back and as cool as cool can be. Simple, low-fi and with the poise of Velvet Underground meeting Mazzy Star. Singer, Jade McInally says of the song: This song came to me in a dream. I woke up and sang the melody into my phone. It’s about holding the mirror up to yourself. There is light in the dark. Letting yourself feel okay again. Rebirth. Getting back to basics. Musically, we channelled the inner Kraut to make the rock..

The accompanying video, inspired by Argento’s Suspirio and Kubrick’s Clockwork Orange is, according to McInally, an extension of the themes within song: it’s about telling yourself in your darker moments to let the good things in, even if all you feel is negativity:

The single is available on-line through all the usual sources or through the link below.

With a debut album due out later this year, there are exciting things ahead for this band.
