After releasing their opus “Emperor Of Sand” album in March 2017 to great critical acclaim the album entered the Billboard sales charts at #1. The band, over their 8 studio albums, are going from strength to strength. Mastodon are now providing us with a plethora of material for their fans with some new music, a great new video and a live tour.

New Music

Their new EP “Cold Dark Place” is being released on September 22nd featuring four previously unreleased tracks.

Three of the tracks, “North Side Star,” “Blue Walsh,” and “Cold Dark Place,” were recorded during the sessions for Mastodon’s 2014 album Once More ‘Round The Sun and were produced by Nick Raskulinecz. A fourth track, “Toe to Toes,” was recorded during the sessions for the band’s most recent album, 2016’s Emperor of Sand, and was produced by Brendan O’Brien.  Those who pre-order Cold Dark Place will receive an instant download of the track “Toe to Toes,” on September 1.

The track-listing for Cold Dark Place is as follows:

  1. North Side Star

  2. Blue Walsh

  3. Toe to Toes

  4. Cold Dark Place

New Video

Mastodon have certainly continued their tradition of delivering a unique visual feast for their new music video for “Steambreather”.

“Steambreather” is a stunning track from this years “Emperor of Sand” album.
Filmed in London and directed by the husband and wife team of Essy May & Stevie Gee and produced by Hugo Donkin. Certainly a different one worth watching for the fun of cultish behaviors from a humble school/community centre.

 Exclusive

Also, next month Mastodon will appear on the cover of the newly relaunched Revolver Magazine. The issue, will be available with four different covers, each featuring a member of Mastodon. When all four covers are placed together side by side, a single image of the full band, which is Brann Dailor, Brent Hinds, Bill Kelliher, and Troy Sanders, is created. As an added bonus, Revolver subscribers will receive an exclusive and very limited-edition 7” vinyl single with their paid order. The A-side is the version of “Toe To Toes” that appears on Cold Dark Place, and the B-side is a previously unreleased instrumental version of the track.
