I’m in a good mood this morning and its due to 90 – a combined effort from Moscow’s Pompeya and remixed by French super-producer Fred Falke. The Russian band; Daniil Brod, Denis Agafonov, Sasha Lipskiy and Nairi Simonian, make this sort of disco infused indie rock, showered with harmonies and these synth lines that worm their way into your mind.
Fred Falke is one of those producers with a magic touch. The pioneering French house master has already taken hold of songs by Robyn, Katy Perry and Lana Del Rey (amongst many others) and sprinkled his magic dancefloor dust over them.
And that is the case with 90, which starts with this vocal cut up over this pure funk guitar line, and then skips into this house feel. It really comes alive though with the chiming accompaniment to these delicious hooks and chorus’. I’m not sure I’ve heard a more feel good track for a long while.
