Perfume Genius is coming back to Australia, and he’s doing it in style. Mike Hadreas will headline the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall on Tuesday 9 December, a one-night-only performance that promises both vulnerability and power in equal measure.

The Iowa-born singer-songwriter has spent the last decade reshaping the boundaries of indie pop and rock. His seventh album Glory (2025) has been hailed as his most unflinching yet, its lead single It’s A Mirror landing Pitchfork’s Best New Track. Expect to hear those new songs alongside favourites from a back catalogue that has made Hadreas one of modern music’s most vital and fearless voices.

On stage, Perfume Genius is magnetic—his live band pushing his confessional songwriting into spaces that are at once fragile and ferocious. Over seven albums, Hadreas has turned themes of queerness, trauma, and survival into cathartic art, whether through bruised ballads or bursts of glam-rock spectacle. At the Opera House, that vision will fill one of Australia’s most iconic rooms.
