Fresh from a headline-making appearance at Newport Folk Festival, where Hayley Williams joined her on stage for a blistering rendition of ‘Pedestrian At Best’, Courtney Barnett is bringing her Creature of Habit Tour back to Australia this November, with an exciting addition to the East Coast dates.

Joining Barnett in Brisbane and Melbourne will be rising Arnhem Land artist Drifting Clouds, the synth-infused pop project of Yolngu singer, songwriter and keyboardist Terry Guyula. Blending contemporary electronic textures with Yolngu Songlines, Drifting Clouds has quickly emerged as one of Australia’s most distinctive new voices, earning widespread attention with debut single ‘Bawuypawuy’ before building further momentum through the acclaimed follow-up ‘Rarrandharr’.

The announcement caps a breakout year for Drifting Clouds, who recently appeared alongside Emma Donovan for a memorable Like A Version performance of Billie Eilish’s ‘Birds Of A Feather’ during triple j’s NAIDOC Week celebrations. Combined with sold-out headline shows and a growing reputation as a captivating live act, the support slot marks another significant milestone.

For Barnett, the Australian run follows an extensive stretch of international touring and arrives more than four years after her last national tour. She’ll perform songs from her fifth studio album, Creature of Habit, on home soil for the first time, alongside the incisive guitar work, wry lyricism and fan favourites that have established her as one of Australia’s most celebrated songwriters.

The homecoming follows the overwhelming demand for Barnett’s surprise 2025 performance at Melbourne’s Punters Club, where hundreds of fans queued in the hope of securing a place inside. If her recent Newport set proved anything, it’s that Barnett remains one of the most magnetic performers of her generation. With Drifting Clouds opening the East Coast dates, November’s shows now pair one of Australia’s most accomplished artists with one of its most exciting emerging talents.
