News: easyclear Announces Debut EP ‘Green’, Shares Dreamy New Single ‘Teammate’

London-based artist Luke Deacon, under his solo project easyclear, has announced the debut EP Green, set for release on April 25th. As a taste of what’s to come, Deacon has shared the intricate and dreamy new single ‘Teammate’, out today, offering a compelling glimpse into his unique blend of atmopsheric alt-pop, electronics and folk elements.

Having honed his craft performing with Young Khan (a project that lead to the formation of Sea Girls) and Kid Jupiter, Deacon has cultivated a distinct musical identity, discovered in his solo project easyclear. Comparable to Djo, the new single ‘Teammate’ blends its intimate, heartfelt songwriting with an ethereal soundscape of intricate picked acoustic guitar, washes of synth and tight drums to create an affecting alternative pop sound.

Deacon’s emotive vocals float over the soundscape with a sense of sincerity and heart, guiding the listener through a rich and textured musical journey to create a track which brings a harmonious sense of clarity.

Speaking on the track, Deacon shares: “’Teammate’ is a song about companionship in its many forms. Through sporting references, it espouses the values of trust, commitment, and mutual support. Conceived around a fingerpicked classical guitar that gallops through the track, a tight drum groove propels the song forward with attitude while bold synths and tape-manipulated piano evoke a slightly bittersweet world of wet turf, rain, and memory.”

With Green, easyclear presents a vivid and introspective collection of songs exploring the interplay between the organic and the digital. Produced by Alex O’Donovan (Sea Girls, Kelly Lee Owens, Boston Manor) at Strongroom Studios, the EP is a meticulously crafted sonic tapestry, often beginning with acoustic and classical guitar, drawing inspiration from folk legends such as Arthur Russell, Bert Jansch, and Elliott Smith before then layering with lush synths and intricate production to create the overarching sound.

With the release of ‘Teammate’, easyclear sets the stage for an exciting new chapter ahead of the full EP.
