Renowned cellist, composer, and vocalist Ian Maksin is set to captivate music enthusiasts once again with his latest musical creation, “AMOR RENATUS” (REBIRTH OF LOVE). The single, accompanied by a mesmerizing music video, is a prelude to his highly anticipated North American tour and forthcoming 12-track album of the same name, scheduled for release on October 10. With this release, Maksin takes his listeners on a sonic odyssey, crafting a musical tapestry that transcends genres and evokes emotions that span the spectrum of human experience. Cinematic, emotive, textural, classical, atmospheric and beautiful the track is a triumph.

Maksin’s music is a Metaverse all its own, seamlessly blending classical, jazz, and world music influences. Drawing inspiration from an eclectic array of sources, he weaves a rich tapestry of sound that transports listeners beyond the confines of space and time, immersing them in a magical musical experience.

Speaking about “AMOR RENATUS” and the upcoming album, Maksin explains, “AMOR RENATUS is a reflection on the tragic ongoing events in Ukraine. It delves deep into the darkest recesses of the human soul, unearthing a myriad of feelings universal to all wars: grief, indignation, fear, and despair. As the journey continues, the music guides the listener through a path to redemption and a spiritual transformation, allowing them to ultimately find peace, comfort, and empowerment. As artists, we are fortunate to have music as the most powerful means of emotional healing and be able to offer it as medicine for the soul to the listener as well.”

“AMOR RENATUS” is a testament to Maksin’s virtuosity as a cellist. Enhanced by the use of a loop pedal and expertly transformed into a virtual orchestra through electronic wizardry, his cello performances are nothing short of enchanting. The addition of diverse percussion instruments, from the resonant Mongolian frame drum to the hypnotic West African djembe, elevates the album’s transformative power.

Maksin’s musical influences are as diverse as the instruments he plays. The album draws inspiration from legendary composers like J.S. Bach and Mozart while embracing the spirit of Astor Piazzolla and folk music from regions spanning the Middle East to the Balkans.

The album’s journey begins with a Prologue, featuring four compositions: “Alis Doloris (Wings of Sorrow) Intro,” “Alis Doloris,” “Nostalgia,” and “In Tenebris (In the Dark).” These pieces set the stage for the heart of the album—the Requiem. While the first and third movements, “Requiem Aeternum” and “Dies Irae,” pay homage to Mozart’s Requiem, they infuse it with the essence of Tango Nuevo and the soul-stirring sounds of Maksin’s solo cello.

The second movement, “Tuba Mirum,” transports listeners with a Middle Eastern drum groove and cello solos that evoke the spirit of a Balkan trumpet solo, leading to an apocalyptic climax. The closing movement, “Lux Aeterna,” is a serene and solemn milonga, reminiscent of Astor Piazzolla.

The journey culminates in the Epilogue, featuring four tracks: “Amor Renatus (Rebirth of Love) Intro,” “Amor Renatus,” “Ortus Solis (Sunrise),” and “Urbs Aurum (City of Gold).” These compositions guide listeners back to light and love, marking a path of spiritual transformation.

Ian Maksin’s “AMOR RENATUS” promises to be a groundbreaking musical experience that transcends boundaries and speaks to the depths of the human soul. As the single and album release date approaches, music enthusiasts can anticipate being swept away on a sonic journey of love, healing, and transformation that only an artist of Maksin’s caliber can provide.
