Eora/Sydney’s epicentre is about to hit a high note as the Music Makers Club gears up to celebrate its 100th show. This milestone not only marks a significant achievement for the club but also highlights its commitment to supporting and showcasing emerging local talent.

Founded in 2012, the Music Makers Club was born out of a shared vision between Mark Gerber, co-founder and CEO of Oxford Art Factory, and Matt O’Connor, an award-winning producer, A&R manager, and co-founder of Oxford Creative Academy. What started as a weekly showcase at the iconic Oxford Art Factory’s Gallery Bar has blossomed into one of Australia’s longest-running live music platforms for up-and-coming artists.

“Reaching our 100th show is a huge achievement, especially in these challenging times for live music,” says Matt O’Connor. “We are incredibly grateful for the support of the local community, the dedication of our talented performers, and the passion of our loyal audience. This milestone is a celebration of everyone’s efforts to keep the spirit of live music alive.“

Over the years, the Music Makers Club has become known for its eclectic lineups, featuring a diverse range of genres—from indie rock to pop, folk to electronic. Each show offers a unique experience, creating unforgettable memories for both performers and audiences alike. The club has played a crucial role in launching the careers of many now-renowned artists, including Ocean Alley and Harts.

The 100th show, set to take place this Friday, August 16th, at Oxford Art Factory, promises to be an epic celebration of live and local music. The lineup features 12 of Australia’s brightest emerging acts, including The Colliflowers (pictured below), Holly Riva, Butter Knife, Bobby Uncle, West Wind, The Sooks, Sunset Sherbet, Overnight, Eshaan, The Daturas, Dalton, and Oscar Lennon.

Adding to the excitement, the event will also see the launch of Gallery Bar Records, a new venture that further cements the Oxford Creative Academy’s role as a leader in industry-led music education. Through the Music Makers Club, OCA students gain invaluable hands-on experience, managing all aspects of the event—from curation to production—giving them a real-world taste of the music industry.

Mark Gerber reflects on the journey so far saying, “I am thrilled to celebrate the 100th Music Makers Club event at Oxford Art Factory on August 16th. This milestone reflects our mutual commitment to supporting and showcasing emerging talent in the music industry. It’s been an incredible journey for Matt and myself, and we’re excited to continue fostering creativity and providing a platform for artists to shine.“
