News: Sloane Monroe Unveils New Single ‘Clueless’

Sloane Monroe returns with the new single ‘Clueless’, a shimmering, defiant anthem that showcases both her sharp songwriting and knack for crafting infectious melodies over a driving electronic backdrop, defined by subtle flecks of guitar and dark, atmospheric production.

Opening with a dreamy, hypnotic intro, ‘Clueless’ quickly unfolds into a captivating mix of sticky pop hooks and alternative undertones. The track tells the story of a fleeting romance—Monroe’s clever lyricism turning a moment of unrequited interest into something universally relatable.

“Clueless came from one of those classic late-night phone calls with a friend,” Monroe explains. “I was laughing about how I’d met a guy on a night out who was completely oblivious to my interest. I said, ‘Clueless, baby,’ and suddenly, a little lightbulb went off. The next morning, I revisited a project I’d been working on for my friend Rebecca (Le Montais), isolated a sample, and built the chorus. A few writing sessions later, Clueless was born.”

Monroe’s musical journey began at just four years old, singing along to Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse during long car rides. Raised on blues and folk, she later moved from the USA to London in 2018 to study jazz violin, a shift that led her to explore the boundaries of contemporary pop. Drawing inspiration from the city’s dynamic nightlife, she soon began weaving electronica into her sound, leading to collaborations with artists like Haydn Bendall (Kate Bush), YUNGBLUD, and Chinchilla.
