News: Sofia Isella Returns to Australia With Haunting New EP I’m camera . and Festival Dates

Sofia Isella

Sofia Isella will be touring Australia after an absence of 3 years. The cult-pop provocateur returns this December for a run of headline shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, along with a slot at Spilt Milk Festival. It’s part of her expanded YOU’LL UNDERSTAND, DICK world tour — a bold, confrontational title befitting an artist who continues to challenge and captivate in equal measure.

This follows a blistering overseas run. Isella sold out venues across the United States earlier this year, building on the feverish fandom that’s gathered around her since the release of her debut EP, I Can Be Your Mother. This August, she takes her show to Europe, where demand has seen venues upgraded in Berlin, Cologne, London, Manchester and Glasgow. She’ll also support Glass Animals for a short US run in June, further cementing her reputation as one of the most vital live acts in the alt-pop underground.

The announcement lands alongside her sophomore EP, I’m camera ., a gothic, cinematic collection that feels more like a possession than a pop record. A companion piece to her debut, it continues the surreal narrative of inspiration-as-childbirth with tracks like Muse, Crowd Caffeine, and Dog’s Dinner. “I don’t write my own songs,” Isella says. “There’s something else in the room. I’m just the camera.”

Equal parts performance art and pop exorcism, Sofia Isella’s return to Australian stages is more than a tour — it’s a reckoning. For fans who have watched her meteoric rise from afar, this December offers a rare and unmissable opportunity to see her in the flesh.
