Fresh from electrifying stages across Japan and the UK, anime-inspired alt-rock duo Zeroz return with the blistering, glitching new single ‘Star Kill Lovers’.
Like Nirvana if they were in the studio messing around with electronics and pitch shifters, the track marks a return to their relentless, chaotic soundscape – noise-rock, left-field experimentation, and grunge ethos.
Punching drums, fuzzy guitars create an intense backdrop from the striking and sharp vocals which sit right up front in the mix. The result is a track that’s both volatile and vulnerable, balancing noise with nuance, through an explosive sense of energy and rebellious undercurrent.
Frontman Z describes the meaning behind the track with powerful clarity: “‘Star Kill Lovers’ is about the clash of Romance and Modernity. I’ve always been so inspired by the romances I’ve seen in anime — the idea of loving and protecting one person has always appealed to me, especially in the context of adventure; but modern life is about modular existence, infinite acquisition, and irony: all things diametrically opposed to Romance.”
