Premiere: hunter & wolfe toast their ‘Famous Friends’ as they prep first album in almost a decade

It’s been quite a while since we’ve last heard from Brooklyn duo hunter & wolfe; longer still since they’ve put out a full-length album. With the impact of the pandemic on artists in general, it’s a relief to see they’re still kicking. Almost six whole years ago they released the Late Then Never EP, itself arriving 3 years after debut album Days & Works. They certainly don’t like to be rushed.

The pair of Michael Maffei and Sundeep Kapur have kept their heads down for an extended period (partly out of necessity) but they’re finally back at it, with the Days & Works follow-up in the can and set for release later in the year. No release date yet, because it’s just like them to keep us waiting, but what we do have is a lead single. It’s a song about chance and circumstance, and specifically about having to grind out a career when those around you have mastered landing on their feet.

It’s called ‘Famous Friends’, a gorgeous mid-tempo offering from the pair, who expand the hunter & wolfe setup into a six-piece on their forthcoming second album, i deserve this. We’re premiering the lyric video for ‘Famous Friends’; tune in below and keep an eye out for more details on their new record.
