Hackney’s indie golden boys Gengahr release a new single ‘Under The Skin’. It’s everything we could want and more

Though Gengahr haven’t been in the scene for long, they’re already a force to be reckoned with. Since their formation in 2013 they’ve released 3 albums and built up a solid discography. Known for their relentless work ethic, the London four piece indie outfit are best known for slick and groovy rhythms with hauntingly beautiful vocals.

The track is a bit longer than the usual Gengahr song, levelling out at nearly six minutes, though this works in its favour. This epic is in fact a collaboration with the prime TV show ‘American Gods’ which is airing its third season soon. The music video features shots from American Gods, and you can tell the song and show are a match made in heaven. Felix Bushe, Gengahr’s frontman says “the two worlds seemed a perfect fit”, continuing on to say “It was a really interesting opportunity for us and when we were asked about the project I thought immediately that I had something that would work well for this. There was an element of re-writing that went on but essentially the world the song lived in already existed and happened to be one much the same as the show itself.”

As you can see, a large level of work has gone into crafting this perfect single as both an individual work of art, and a collaborative effort with the soon to be released show. It’s no suprise Gengahr has established such a reputation for themselves over the past half a decade. And I’m sure they will continue to expand for the rest of the coming decade and beyond.
