Hinds kick off 2018 in style by sharing the football-themed video for new single ‘New For You’ and announcing the release of their second album.

In 2016 Hinds released a debut album full of attitude and charm, producing a contender for album of the year before the end of January. The Spanish quartet – Carlotta Cosials (vocals, guitar), Ana Perrotte (vocals, guitar), Ade Martin (bass, backing vocals) and Amber Grimbergen (drums) – have announced that this year will see them release their highly-anticipated second album ‘I Don’t Run’ (out 6 April via Lucky Number). “We loved making this album,” says Perrote. “We knew what we wanted and we have what we wanted. This is a new start for us and we’re fucking ready.”

The announcement of the album release has been accompanied by a run of tour dates where Hinds will bring their ridiculously fun and engaging live show back to the UK (dates below).

New single ‘New For You’ has their now familiar warm, lo-fi sound and carefree energy but the lyrics are more intense than the breeziness suggests – “Sometimes I see myself and I can’t stand my show!” – it’s about wanting to be a better version of yourself. The self-directed video for the track allows the band to show off some formidable skills on the pitch (watch it below). “I thought it cannot be more Spanish (football) and that it cannot be more a male sport, and that it is good to present a different gender-reality without even trying hard,” Cosials says. “I think sports are such a good metaphor with life, with goals, passion and suffer.”

With a fearless debut and globetrotting tour under their belt, Hinds achieved their goals and endeared themselves to listeners everywhere. Now it looks like they’ll be scoring even more success with album number two.

Hinds UK tour dates

15 April – SWG3, Glasgow
17 April – Gorilla, Manchester
18 April – The Fleece, Bristol
19 April – Electric Brixton, London
20 April – Concorde 2, Brighton
