Track: Sam Himself Contrasts Upbeat Instrumentation With Reflective Vocals On New Single ‘Golden Days’

Vibrant keys, driving bass and palm muted guitar chords open the new single ‘Golden Days’ from Sam Himself, setting an initially bright and danceable tone to the single. As Sam’s emotive, reflective and somewhat inward lead vocal enters, the mood is shifted, highlighting the melancholic undertones of the musical soundscape.

The smokey, delicate almost whispery delivery of the vocal gives the single a distinctive edge, resulting in a track which feels like a blends of Future Islands blended with an air of Bruce Springsteen & The Killers.

Produced by Daniel Schlett (Iggy Pop; The War on Drugs) and mastered by Greg Calbi (David Bowie; Bruce Springsteen), the track features a star studded collection of musicians and longterm collaborators of Sam’s including JD Werner on bass (Ghostface Killah; Lee “Scratch” Perry) and drummer Chris Egan (Blood Orange; !!!). Another fine example of Sam Himself’s impeccable ability to make exciting yet emotive music packed with widespread appeal, the new single ‘Golden Days’ is out now.
