Track: Sample Text Share New Single Introspective Alt-Rock Sweller ‘Aphrodite’

Northern alternative-rock quartet SMPL TXT (Sample Text) deliver their second single ‘Aphrodite’.

A Blend of melancholic modern songwriting with a The Beatles-meets-vintage-pop-rock approach, the band capture a unique and effortlessly hypnotic sound on the single. Produced by Tim Malkin at Green Room Studios (known for his work with Adult DVD and Japanese Television), ‘Aphrodite’ is built around strummed acoustic guitars, tremolo-tinted electrics, plucky basslines, and some gorgeously placed layers of vocal harmonies which surround the boxy, central lead vocal. Striking a delicate balance between a ultra-cool 70s aura between infectious catchiness and emotional depth.

Lead guitarist and songwriter Jordan reveals the inspiration behind the track, stating, “I wrote Aphrodite just before lockdown when I was smitten with a girl that I’d been friends with for a long time so it was like this scary confession… the song took on this sort of sadness which I think a lot of people connect to.”

Since their debut single release in summer 2022, SMPL TXT has been making waves in the North West music scene, performing at renowned local venues and festivals across the UK. With a growing fan base, the band has already packed out well-known venues such as Bootleg Social and The Jacaranda. Now, with the release of ‘Aphrodite’ and a flurry of new material, SMPL TXT is poised to have their biggest year yet, solidifying their status as ones to watch.
