The heyday of the protest song is in the distant past, but given the political landscape at the moment, it’s long due a revival.
Okay, so who had the former Barenaked Ladies frontman Steven Page down as one of those destined to spearhead that revival? I certainly didn’t. With the righteously angry “White Noise” Page fuses a much needed message to fizzing power pop, and the results are a much needed reminder that some things, particularly white nationalism, really are worth getting angry about.
“White Noise” is released 3 August, with a full album, ‘Discipline: Heal Thyself Pt. II’, released on 14 September.
