EP: Jay Forden – Fool on the Hill

I first met Manchester singer-songwriter Jay Forden when he was playing as a support act to another band at Manchester 235 Casino. As I watched him I remember being struck by how he managed to be so vulnerable and yet so Rock n Roll at the same time. This EP has that same mix of vulnerability and Rock n Roll attitude.

Fool on A Hill is a tune for the days when you don’t want cheering up; just let the lyrics and the haunting melody wash over you and enjoy the sadness. My World is an acoustic track with gritty vocals, that wouldn’t be out of place on a Noel Gallagher set list. The EP ends with
an instrumental of Little Time. There aren’t many artists that put instrumentals on EPs, but I think it sums up what Jay Forden is about. It’s not about fitting into the mainstream; it’s about well-crafted, well performed songs that are perfectly produced.

This is one of 2 EP’s that are being released; the second one is due out in the next few weeks. If you enjoy listening to quality Rock/Indie music you will love this, definitely worth checking out.
