LaClara Sofia is back—and she’s throwing down the glove. With the release of her new single ‘Lança’, the Brazilian-French artist sets a hypnotic tone for her upcoming EP ABRASA (due October 10th). Blending samba-rock, disco, and alternative pop, ‘Lança’ is an invitation and a challenge, a dance-floor incantation that’s equal parts movement and meaning.
Sonically, ‘Lança’ grooves in that sweet, slippery space between Rita Lee’s rebellious energy and Ana Frango Elétrico’s dreamy experimentation. A playful bassline and intoxicating percussion form the heartbeat of the track, while LaClara Sofia’s signature voice—sensual, poetic, magnetic—weaves through Portuguese lyrics with a confident sway.
In Brazilian Portuguese, “lançar a luva” once meant to issue a duel. But in Sofia’s hands, it becomes a gesture of desire, a flirtatious dare to surrender to the beat. This is music of the body as much as the soul: every glance is a lyric, every step a verse, every imbalance an act of grace.
Accompanying the track’s release is a luminous live session filmed at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, where ‘Lança’ is given an intimate makeover – Stripped down and soulful, the performance reveals the song’s organic pulse, hovering between minimal groove and earthy spirituality. LaClara Sofia is joined by her longtime collaborators: Lucimara Bispo on percussion, Nicolas Fleury on bass, and the warm, grounding backing vocals of Lucy Miller.
