Since forming in the Chicago suburbs in 1997, Plain White T’s have quietly built one of modern pop rock’s most enduring catalogues. Now, with more than 2.7 billion streams and a string of multi-platinum singles behind them, the band are set to return to Australia for a headline tour joined by Adelaide indie-punk duo Teenage Joans.

Long before Hey There Delilah became an unlikely Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper and earned two Grammy nominations, Plain White T’s were honing their craft in Chicago basements, clubs and bars. Founded by high school friends Tom Higgenson, Dave Tirio and Ken Fletcher, with Steve Mast joining soon after, the group steadily developed from local favourites into international chart regulars.

While Hey There Delilah remains their defining song, the band enjoyed continued success with singles including 1, 2, 3, 4and Rhythm Of Love, both of which also achieved platinum status. Through changing musical trends and lineup shifts, Plain White T’s have remained a constant presence, with vocalist Tom Higgenson now the sole remaining original member following Dave Tirio’s departure in 2020.

Across nearly three decades, the band have balanced heartfelt ballads with bright, melodic pop rock, earning recognition from outlets including Rolling Stone, Billboard and TIME. Their catalogue continues to resonate with listeners old and new, helping cement their place among the defining acts of the 2000s pop rock boom.
