Out on Warp Records on Match 10th, is Elektrac. Its a new project made up of Strobe Hazard, Squarepusher, Company Laser and Arf Nution. Elektrac features the bands versions of eleven of Squarepushers most iconic tracks. From the album, the band are streaming their version of Journey to Reedham.
Its a mass of electronics, both melodic as it twists and sparkles, while the bassline rumbles beneath your feet. As it gradually unfurls, so in come electronic sweeps and shards, but its the drumming that really catches the ear – half way between drum and bass and jazz, it gives the track its energy, as it bustles and fights its way to the forefront. As if that weren’t enough, the whole thing is ridiculously catchy. All bow down to Shobaleader One.
