Track: Kamal – Blue

‘Blue’ is the brand-new track to come from 17 year old Londoner Kamal.

Kamal first graced the internet in the summer of 2019 with an unannounced double release titled ‘two missed calls’. It didn’t take long for people to clock-on to the alluring and unique potential in the young, enigmatic voice and focus track ‘decline’ quickly garnered a heap of organic pick-up.  Earlier this year, before the world was turned upside down by COVID-19 he dropped follow-up single ‘homebody’ – an eerily prophetic track that has unexpectedly become a comforting soundtrack to people’s lockdown, exploring the mental state of being a recluse and finding comfort in your own company

‘Blue’ is a very soulful track with lyrics about conflicted emotions as he attempts to untangle his feelings for somebody. You can hear the youth in his voice but that only makes it more remarkable what Kamal has created. There’s maturity in the way this track is put together. Its one of the best produced tracks I have heard for awhile. Laid back and chilled with so much space each instrument and each note is needed and supports that voice perfectly.

  1. Have been following Kamal for a while now, ever since he was on Swiss National Radio on one Sunday morning, and I love what he does! Fresh, poetic, and I couldn’t agree more that it’s so refreshing and so much needed in these times to hear this young voice. Thanks for picking him out.
